The Critics
All I can say is wow. Take a look at this. It’s all the reviews for Gears of War at EBGames.com. Now, most of them are 100% positive. But you’ll find that the ones that aren’t were horribly reviewed. It seemed like they gave it a bad rating so people would “respect” them and think they were cool for doing something different. Here’s one that made me laugh:
I thought the visuals and the graphics on this game were great. but the game itself i absolutely hate. i didnt know much about this game so i bought it cause i heard it was good. i got it home and discovered it was a hellish/bloody/gorey game and it was actually scary in a way. i hate it and im absolutely ****** that i spnt $60 on this hellish game.
p.s. who the **** wants to see a guy get cut in half and blood spurt 50 feet from his body…not me

One of the most noticeable things there is the grammar, but it’s not the biggest deal. In the review he quite clearly admits that he didn’t know a lot about the game, and bought it anyway, and now he writes about how bad it is. He complains about how much gore there is. Even if you don’t know much about the game, I would think the cover of it might tip you off. Honestly, what kind of idiot would buy a game if he knew nothing about it? It seems he has a computer since he wrote a review, but apparently wasn’t smart enough to go watch videos of gameplay or read about it on IGN or some other source. Oh, and I do hope he knows there is an extreme content filter.

I’ve went from not much liking this game to really hating it.To me the controls are dissapointing.i much prefer Rainbow6 style control.This game never seems to do what i want it to.I try and duck down behind cover and he jumps over the cover.Try to roady run and he ducks down behind cover.
Your squad mates are dumb and you’ve no control over them.The game dicates way too much for my taste the style you have to play.I like games the reward you for playing aggressive not kill you for it.If you play hard and fast this game sucks.You are constantly starting levels over and over.I want to play my way not the way some game wants me to play.
The graphics are good but the game is completly colorless and devoid of varying landscape.Rainbow6Vegas i play over and over.This game the more i play it the more i hate it.Does not live up to the hype.
That sounds to me like he couldn’t get the hang of the game within the first ten minutes of playing, so he stopped playing, and went back to being a Tom Clancy fanboy.
But don’t get me wrong, some of the reviews that say it’s good make so sense too. Go read some of ‘em, you’ll get a laugh or two out of it. I know I did.
